Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Readers of Aesop’s fable know the tortoise as the embodiment of patient determination, catching and surpassing the overconfident hare. This quality can be essential in a diplomat, who must be neither too eager nor too stubborn if the right kind of agreement is to be reached. Albright wore a turtle to show her intent to forge steadily ahead, despite distractions, always focused on her desired goal.
